Cargo Storage

Warehousing that supports the shipment plan

Storage should support the next movement, not create another handover. We arrange warehousing and cargo handling around import, export and cross-trade requirements.

01

Define what the storage stage needs to achieve

Tell us whether cargo is waiting for a sailing, being collected from several suppliers, awaiting final delivery or being released in stages. Share the expected arrival and release dates. The purpose of storage helps determine which receiving, handling and onward-transport services need to be included.

  • Short- or medium-term storage enquiries
  • Consolidation and deconsolidation
  • Container stuffing and destuffing
  • Palletisation and distribution coordination
02

Match the facility to the cargo

Provide the commodity, package count, dimensions, gross weight and storage period. State whether the cargo is stackable and whether it requires temperature control, special lifting or a regulated-goods review. Identify the location and any customs status that the receiving facility must be able to accommodate. Do not assume every warehouse can accept every product.

03

Connect receiving, storage and onward dispatch

Agree the delivery appointment, unloading method, cargo identification and release instructions before the first handover. Storage can form part of a wider plan with container transport, supplier collection and ocean freight. The quotation should identify which tasks are included and which parties supply the documents and equipment.

04

Review handling and stock instructions

Describe any need for counting, condition photographs, relabelling or separate release batches. Confirm what the receiving record will show and how discrepancies should be reported. If several orders share a storage location, provide clear package references so the correct cargo can be prepared for the next movement.

05

Compare the full storage scope

Ask how the proposed storage period is calculated and which receiving, lifting, palletisation, extra-handling or dispatch charges may apply. Identify who authorises release and the notice needed before collection. Any extension or change in cargo condition should be reviewed with the team before the original arrangement expires.

Frequently asked questions

Does an ocean quotation automatically include storage?

No. Storage and handling must be expressly included in the agreed scope. Provide the location, dates and cargo details if you need these services assessed.

Can several supplier orders be consolidated?

This can be assessed against the pickup locations, readiness dates, cargo compatibility, handling requirements and available facility. Send each order separately in the cargo brief.
